Tide going out one morning at Kaikoura. One of my favourite places to be. Any comments on how to improve this image gratefully received, thank you! I've tried to do it in B&W but just can't seem to get it to look right.. so I've left it untouched by photoshop!
Hi guys! This year I'll be putting up fewer shots, but hopefully improving the quality at the same time. Sort of a 'best of' if you like. This community is terrific in so many ways - I love it even if I don't often comment. The people on here make it a great place to be. I'm also writing a health-related blog - if you're interested, hop on over to http://healthskills.wordpress.com/ and make yourself known!

@Still: Thank you so much! It's wonderful being up and about early (I am NO early riser!), but I definitely recall a seriously good coffee being had on the hill overlooking this part of the day. Incidentally, there is a seal colony living off that point, and I think if you look really carefully, you'll probably find one or two the beasties.
Dont think it needs much work mate! Stonkin' shot. I'd leave it pretty much as is, but thats just me.
I was in Kaikoura a couple of years ago and loved it. Actually i was blown away by the whole of the South island to be honest. Awesome place.

@Stu: Stonkin' - now there's a word I haven't heard in a while!! For pictures, I think South Island can't be beat (for landscape anyway), Kaikoura is a lovely place, we visit it quite often to go diving, but with our so-called 'summer' we haven't been recently. I have tried to fiddle with this in various forms, but as you can see, I gave up - sometimes I can get too tricksy with the post-production, and I often find I return to the original anyway. sigh. Whiles away some hours though!
I like the reflection of the light and the green algues. I think if you had turn this shot into b&w you would have lost this warm and peaceful touch of the low tide and the rising sun.

@Kerstin: thanks, I did try it out but it looked too 'busy' and just didn't work.

@Sébastien: Come to Kaikoura and at low tide this is what you get - if you walk around the corner you'll get to see seals, and if you go in the water you'll see dolphin, whales, lots of fish and crayfish (lobster!). It's a lovely place to be.
