@Still: Thank you so much! It's wonderful being up and about early (I am NO early riser!), but I definitely recall a seriously good coffee being had on the hill overlooking this part of the day. Incidentally, there is a seal colony living off that point, and I think if you look really carefully, you'll probably find one or two the beasties.

@Stu: Stonkin' - now there's a word I haven't heard in a while!!
For pictures, I think South Island can't be beat (for landscape anyway), Kaikoura is a lovely place, we visit it quite often to go diving, but with our so-called 'summer' we haven't been recently.
I have tried to fiddle with this in various forms, but as you can see, I gave up - sometimes I can get too tricksy with the post-production, and I often find I return to the original anyway. sigh. Whiles away some hours though!

@Kerstin: thanks, I did try it out but it looked too 'busy' and just didn't work.

@Susankritha: Thank you! It's a neat place, too.

@Sébastien: Come to Kaikoura and at low tide this is what you get - if you walk around the corner you'll get to see seals, and if you go in the water you'll see dolphin, whales, lots of fish and crayfish (lobster!).
It's a lovely place to be.
