Ain't Google a wonderful thing?! A few days ago I had no idea what a lomo was...today, this is the result! I went to: http://digital-photography-school.com/blog/how-to-make-digital-photos-look-like-lomo-photography/ to learn how!
Hi guys! This year I'll be putting up fewer shots, but hopefully improving the quality at the same time. Sort of a 'best of' if you like. This community is terrific in so many ways - I love it even if I don't often comment. The people on here make it a great place to be. I'm also writing a health-related blog - if you're interested, hop on over to http://healthskills.wordpress.com/ and make yourself known!

wow... the texture in this picture is great and i love the colours, and the detail... the focus is also very unique and ads life to the picture.

@kiah: Thank you! I was trying to catch the movement of poppies in the breeze. This is the first time I've ever tried lomo-processing, and I have some other images of poppies that I want to try processing to get the blur and the colours.
seams you like lomo!

@Dimitrios: I'm not sure whether I like lomo - there is a sort of quirkiness to the images, and it does bring on some sort of mood, but I think I would make sure that I chose the right image to process this way.
I love poppies. This is a beauty.

@badala: I love them too - this is the first year I've planted poppies, they are very evocative for me, bring to mind the poppies of Gallipoli and the First World War...So many NZ and Australian and Turkish soldiers died in a way they were fighting for people far, far away...

@Jerry: Thanks! I was hoping the red would come out OK because in some of the other photos I took it lost the detail on the petals.
The spirit of these flowers...

@Still: Thank you, I love the way they wave in the wind, and tried to catch it.
Wow it's a great technique thank you very much for sharing the way to do it. I'll try it in the future.

You've got that cool lomo-effect in action! Poppies really are evocative of WWI, when I first saw this it reminded me of the flowers they hand out on ANZAC day.

Such vivid reds! Beautiful.

Some of the flowers look like butterflies flying down to rest on the grasses. If only poppies looked so beautiful in real life.

@dYe: If you half-close your eyes, and watch them in the garden, they can do!!
