Comic when wading, but not so in flight. Oyster catchers caught at least my eye!

Hi guys!
This year I'll be putting up fewer shots, but hopefully improving the quality at the same time. Sort of a 'best of' if you like.
This community is terrific in so many ways - I love it even if I don't often comment. The people on here make it a great place to be.

Very colourful! Good capture. Animal shots are quite difficult for me.

@adalove: They're not easy for me, but I do have reasonably good access to a wide range of marine life because we have the boat to go out on. Sooooo lots and lots of bad shots, there are a few that come up OK!

@Shuva: Apparently so, at least they spend a lot of time poking and prodding around the edge of the water, and seem to come up with small shellfish and other yummy things.

I fell in love with NZ 2 years ago when I visited and toured both islands (by motorcycle), so much so that I plan to move there after my stint in Japan. It looked so similar to my native Scotland in many ways but the mountains were larger and the valleys were wider and more colourful, and there seemed to be a wider array of wildlife. The people seemed very similar to the Scots too, as opposed to Australians who are so close geographically to you but whose character is so different. Of course I'm generalizing but Australians seem to have a restless explorer's heart, whereas the New Zealander's seem to be more content somehow.

@Stu: Yup, this is from Kaikoura!
I reckon if you're thinking of coming to NZ the South Island is the place to go. I lived in North Island until about 13 years ago - then came south to Christchurch and can't see any reason to move north again. There are so many things to see and do here.
