a teaser for a series at the end of February. The artist is Peter Donnelly, and some examples of his work can be seen here http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/254f3/1cb9e2/a/
Hi guys! This year I'll be putting up fewer shots, but hopefully improving the quality at the same time. Sort of a 'best of' if you like. This community is terrific in so many ways - I love it even if I don't often comment. The people on here make it a great place to be. I'm also writing a health-related blog - if you're interested, hop on over to http://healthskills.wordpress.com/ and make yourself known!

Like the obscured face.

Pretty cool scene. The art work makes it feel like the artist discombobulates the picture...that he shouldn't be there. Still a striking image.

Excellent! I like the guy's all black outfit and his pose - it's very dramatic. He looks like he's about to break out into a jazz/modern dance.

I thought it was Peru and the Nazca lines! Have you seen any aliens lately?? Great capture!
20 Feb 2007 1:27am
@Roland: No crop circles - just hieroglyphs in the sand, here for a moment, gone with the next tide.
lovely photo, great idea to ¨paint¨on the sand
20 Feb 2007 3:47am
Like the contrast between the artist and the sand! The pose is also very effective and makes one very, very curious.
20 Feb 2007 4:06am
@Manuela Photography: Nice to see you're curious - there will be more!!
what a beautiful shot! excellent.

Fantastic shot Bronnie, Love the contrast and the composition. The black clothes and hat add to the mystery.
@Francis: Thanks, it also made exposure difficult!! Such depth of contrast between the sand and his clothes...
Simply delicisious, I like that the identity of the Man is hidden, it's misterious like the lines is drawing.
20 Feb 2007 6:10am
@Ins@no: His face is hidden because I am up on the pier above him, looking down, it's about 10m above him I think.
Excellent. Very well seen and composed.
20 Feb 2007 6:25am
Incredible. :)
20 Feb 2007 7:13am
Awesome shot! Very well done! I love it!
20 Feb 2007 7:25am
Great shot. I thought for an instant it was an 'alien invasion' sort of thing, like he was writing instructions in the sand. Beautiful composition.
20 Feb 2007 8:57am
@Sylvia: Not quite instructions, just the most amazing designs. I'll post some more of the designs later in the month...
It must have been absolute pleasure to shoot him working.
20 Feb 2007 12:44pm
@Shuva: Oh it definitely was!! He's like a dancer with his movements, but also he's so absorbed in his work that it's like he's in a trance. But if you go up to talk to him he's very friendly and quite happy to talk.
Great oportunity, great shot.

Beautiful composition. I'm looking forward to therst of this series.
20 Feb 2007 1:41pm
@Yvon: Thank you! I hope not to disappoint!!
A beautiful composition and capture as everyone's said. I love it as a graphic statement. And he looks as though he's dancing with his 'paintbrush'.
20 Feb 2007 2:02pm
@Damon Schreiber: He does almost dance with the stick and rake, quite inspirational to watch, and very graceful.
Excellent shot! Definitely looking forward to seeing more. (And thanks for all the comments you have left for me - much appreciated!)

Really impressive shot! Well done! Love it!
20 Feb 2007 2:40pm
great shot! At first I thought it was like death playing.. it´s cool
20 Feb 2007 3:27pm
@adalove: He does look a bit like that at first glance! He always wears black, and believe me you need the hat down here - all those UV rays from the depleted ozone layer...He's a testament to playing safe in the sun too, he has so much sunscreen on his face looks white!
Fabulous shot! Very impressive!!

This is professional environmental portrait - from the composition to the quality/sharpness of the photo.
20 Feb 2007 4:14pm
@Michael Zhang: Wow! That's an incredible compliment! Have to say I only picked up the DSLR a few weeks before Christmas, and have been playing with ps self-taught and what I've picked up from here (and a bit on the web). Gives me hope!!!
Lovely tones - very interesting subject!
20 Feb 2007 5:27pm
Yeah, you've got a great shot here Bronnie! The simple colours are very striking, and not only have you got that amazing background but your choice of when to have the artist in the shot was a really good one!
20 Feb 2007 6:24pm
Wonderful! I look forward to the series.
20 Feb 2007 7:55pm

This beach artist is shown better for sure by this photography artist! I love this shot!
21 Feb 2007 10:30am
Hi, I think I have seen this buy on the beach in Christchurch, New Zealand. We talked to him for awhile. What a character.
21 Feb 2007 6:26pm
@Aidan: Yes, he's the one and only!! That's where you would have seen him - you would have been only about 5min walk from where I live...
Yes, Great shot !!
22 Feb 2007 6:47am
