The sad Scout building had echoed to the sound of kids... now the music of the trees and birds and wind whistles by.
Hi guys!
This year I'll be putting up fewer shots, but hopefully improving the quality at the same time. Sort of a 'best of' if you like.
This community is terrific in so many ways - I love it even if I don't often comment. The people on here make it a great place to be.
I'm also writing a health-related blog - if you're interested, hop on over to http://healthskills.wordpress.com/
and make yourself known!
@Still: Thank you Still, the stand of trees must be about 80 or 90 years old, but are slowly, one by one, being toppled because of great cracks in the branches. The trunks of some are nearly 2m in diameter. Make for great firewood... still I don't like seeing trees felled.
Interesting place - the graffiti is very cool. The tones from the b/w conversion are smooth. Great work!

@Michael Zhang: thanks Michael, I did a bit of dodging and burning to bring up the bits on the tree that looked a little flat, was quite a lot of work!! I was quite pleased in the end. Do you think I should have kept the yellow highlight on the graffiti?
I think this is beautiful complete b&w, I don't think a yellow highlight in the graffiti would add. This way the tree is your main focus and he should be being this old.

@Yvon: Thanks for your thoughts - I thought so too, I thought the yellow would distract from the actual setting which was the focus for this shot. Almost as if humanity was dwarfed by the natural world.
