This is a magnificent grass that grows to about 1.5 - 2m tall, and about 1m wide. I love the golden-white tassels as they wave in the wind. They make for wonderful swords for kids games too!
Hi guys! This year I'll be putting up fewer shots, but hopefully improving the quality at the same time. Sort of a 'best of' if you like. This community is terrific in so many ways - I love it even if I don't often comment. The people on here make it a great place to be. I'm also writing a health-related blog - if you're interested, hop on over to http://healthskills.wordpress.com/ and make yourself known!

Now this is a picture I call catching. When the page opens you see nothing there but the picture. My favorite for the day.

Brilliant angle, colours and light! I love to take photos of this grass, here calle pampa grass.

@Manuela Photography: It's a slightly different grass - Tall growing cutting grass with erect seed heads variable in shape and colour, white, pink or purple. Flowers mid March to late May (later than purple pampas and native toetoe). Leaf sheaths hairless or sparsely hairy, foliage tips at variable levels above ground. Introduced species have leaves which curl at the base of the plant when they are dead. Native toitoi is easily distinguished by the waxy surface on the leaf sheaths and also the golden flower heads. (this is cut'n'pasted from http://www.ebop.govt.nz/weeds/Weed313.asp)
Very similar in many ways...! BTW I spell it toitoi, but it's also spelled toetoe - pronounced slightly differently in North Island and South Island.
Lovely perspective here and great colours, Bronnie.

A wonder ... I think FREEDOM when I see this. Good eye.
