I remembered what I did on this one! (1) copy background layer (2) used wand to pick out sky and create mask (3) made grey layer overlay, used dodge and burn to get sky details (4) used mask and contrast/brightness to bring out sky details even more (5) made another duplicate background layer, applied diffuse glow with grey and pale mauve, used eraser to remove areas I didn't want with this effect to reveal layer below (6) fiddled about a bit with more dodging and burning (7) saved, saved, saved and saved again (well, you know the obsession!) then downloaded it on here! Oh, forgot, I added an overlay vignette which I fiddled with a bit too....
Poem - Jan Kemp
A puriri moth's wing lies light in my hand
my breath can lift it
light as this torn wing we lie on love's breath.
Hi guys! This year I'll be putting up fewer shots, but hopefully improving the quality at the same time. Sort of a 'best of' if you like. This community is terrific in so many ways - I love it even if I don't often comment. The people on here make it a great place to be. I'm also writing a health-related blog - if you're interested, hop on over to http://healthskills.wordpress.com/ and make yourself known!

@Kheoh Yee Wei: That was intentional to provide the nostalgic feel...

And the results is just great. It has a certain feeling around it. Bronnie, if you are using Photoshop, you can Save As... your photo instead of Save for the web to avoind the loss of EXIF data.

@Behrooz: OK - do I then save for the web? thanks!!
No, any save for web removes the EXIF. A compression ratio of 9 for a 800x600 image may result in a 150-200K photo, which AM3 resizes to a small version too.
