@Zing: A bit further south and inland a bit Zing - Palmer's Road, Lewis Pass, Maruia Springs.

@Behrooz: The main danger is weather variability, and people under-estimate how easy it is to get very, very lost in the NZ bush. When the weather turns it can get very wet and cold, and people visiting from other countries don't always prepare well. No snakes at all, only a couple of spiders (very rare), no fierce animals (apart from the humans!), and the main problem is cheeky kea which are a giant parrot that love to be very destructive!

@Craiger: Thanks! There's such rhythmicity in the beech trees, and I love the soft texture of the moss and lichen, but it's very wet underfoot...!

@Art Monkey: Parts of NZ are so similar to Canada, especially around Vancouver and Vancouver Island. But then again you can get parts of NZ that look like parts of almost any country in the world!!

@objectif-P: No monsters in those bushes, just large (nonpoisonous) spiders!!

@Sujit: There is something unique about the greens here in NZ, the bush is completely different from anywhere else!

@Daroru: Thanks! It's the damp that gets in to the pores I think. It's very, very wet!

@amy: Yeah, there is quite a unique scent in the NZ bush, a really damp, clean smell. I love it!
