piwakawaka

...continued from yesterday -

'Tell me, tell me quickly! Your time is running out! My family need warmth and light and Mahuika is trying to keep us in the dark and cold through these long months' said Maui.

Maui squeezed even tighter, fanning out piwakawaka's tail and making her eyes pop out.

'Tell me or I'll squeeze you to death, and then where will your babies be?'

Frightened, piwakawaka twittered out -

'It's Mahuika, goddess of fire you need to scare - she has hidden the fire under the ironwood tree, and you will need to ask her to find it!'

Maui gave one final squeeze and let piwakawaka go, turning on his heel and running through the bush to find Mahuika and the ironwood tree.

And that is how piwakawaka got a fantail and those bright pop eyes.

Hi guys!
This year I'll be putting up fewer shots, but hopefully improving the quality at the same time. Sort of a 'best of' if you like.
This community is terrific in so many ways - I love it even if I don't often comment. The people on here make it a great place to be.
I'm also writing a health-related blog - if you're interested, hop on over to http://healthskills.wordpress.com/
and make yourself known!
