and on our way home across from the West Coast (Lake Mahinapua is just south of Hokitika), we went through Arthur's Pass and Porter's Pass - and it had snowed in the first really good dump of the season. Treacherous icy conditions made for a slow journey - but look at that photo opportunity!!
Hi guys! This year I'll be putting up fewer shots, but hopefully improving the quality at the same time. Sort of a 'best of' if you like. This community is terrific in so many ways - I love it even if I don't often comment. The people on here make it a great place to be. I'm also writing a health-related blog - if you're interested, hop on over to http://healthskills.wordpress.com/ and make yourself known!

This is super! I rode through Arthur's pass when I was in NZ. I was based in Christchurch for a week or so and rode to Greymouth and back in a day. I was knackered, cold and wet. Arthur's pass didn't look anything like this then - it was grey and rainy! Some stunning views there though, and all across the South island actually. A magical and awe-inspiring place to be sure. Thanks for all your encouraging coments on my blog since your return. It's much appreciated. Are you 100% recovered from your concussion now?

Stu, not yet 100% but definitely much better - what I can say is, don't EVER hit your head on the roof of your 4WD, just don't!!! Riding to Greymouth - you've got to be kidding!! in winter it's a horrendous trip, icy and just yuk. On a clear day - it's stunning!
